What's my computer's name??

Sometimes, when you ask for computer help, a technician will ask for your computer name. Maybe you didn't even know your computer had a name! It does, and here's how to find out what it is:

Right Click on the My Computer Icon (on your desktop or in the Start Menu). Choose Properties.

Windows XP users choose the Computer Name tab
Windows 2000 users choose the Network Identification tab

Your computer name is listed next to "Full Computer Name". Most of the time a tech will only need the part of the name before the first dot (.)
