Monster.com, a very popular on-line job databank where users can post their resume & browse job posting- had hundreds of thousands of its users' data stolen. (See the news story on BBC news) Which I believe will set off a round of email phishing. What does this mean to you? It means you need to be especially careful of phishing schemes in email. There is a trojan horse that appears to be a legit program from monster.com thatis supposed to help you search for jobs from your desktop. Instead, this program encrypts your private data on your hard drive, and a ransom note comes up telling you what you need to do in order to unlock your files. This is just a post to remind you of the dangers of email phishing. * Do not click on anything that you do not recognize in the email. * All those new membership invites and welcome you might get, unless you specifically ask for them, they are a phishing tactic to get you to give up your user/password. Many users use the same username and password for all their logins. * Keep your Antivirus and spyware programs updated. Feel free to contact us if you need assistance.
