Lenovo has taken over as the world’s largest PC maker, according to IDC.  Lenovo ousted HP to take the top spot after battling in second place for the last couple of years.  The overall PC market was down for the fifth straight quarter, but Lenovo managed to only slip 1.4% in PC shipments during the second quarter, compared with HP’s slip of 7.7%, according to the IDC report.

Lenovo purchased the PC business from IBM back in 2004, carrying on the ThinkPad and ThinkCentre brands that became corporate staples.  Lenovo has successfully translated those corporate mainstays to the SMB market in the years that followed.  This trend is partly due to innovations with Lenovo products, and partly due to what we at SomethingCool.com consider exemplary service.  Lenovo is opening a manufacturing facility in North Carolina, and retains most US technical support in Atlanta, GA.

SomethingCool.com has been a Lenovo Partner since 2004, and a Lenovo Warranty Service Provider since 2012.  For information on Lenovo products, and how SomethingCool can beat the prices of the big guys, contact us.
